FROM ARCTIC.AC TO ARCTIC.DE

We are ARCTIC - New Domain ARCTIC.de

Earlier this year, we debuted our all-new website; now, it’s time for a new domain ending, too. We’re retiring the arctic.ac domain name and going forward, all things ARCTIC will be found at www.arctic.de.

With the redesign of website, we are presenting ourselves as we actually are: a contemporary, service-oriented PC tech company. In addition to the visual aspects of the redesign, we placed a special emphasis on optimizing usability and performance.

.de stands for Germany

The new top-level domain “.de” underlines the great significance that the German location has within the ARCTIC corporate group. What began around seven years ago as a three-person branch has grown to become the largest ARCTIC location and an international hub in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony.

“The German market has always been of particular importance to ARCTIC,“ explains  CEO Magnus Huber.

Today the location is an important pillar of the company and continues to show strong growth.

The German office, comprising nearly 3,000 square meters of office and warehouse space, is home to about fifty employees across eight different departments. They work side by side (from a safe social distance of course, including their home offices) to realize the company’s vision. International sales, global marketing, handling of service and support as well as deliveries to customers in Europe and beyond, are currently managed from Germany.

German influenced, internationally oriented

The new Digital Commerce Team is responsible for improving digital sales and marketing channels.

While Germany is and will remain a clear focus market, we are simultaneously sharpening our focus on an international level. Recently, with the formation of the Digital Commerce team, we strategically realigned ourselves in this area – thus reaffirming our commitment to aggressively serving other large target markets.

“We want to guarantee that our customers are able to obtain our products at an excellent price-performance ratio – worldwide“, says Head of Digital Commerce Britta Bubolz.

Digitalisation offers us myriad possibilities for this and we will gradually explore and implement them all.

We are proud of this dynamic development, and one thing is certain: ARCTIC will not stand still in the future either.

Visit us now on our new domain: www.arctic.de

The site is currently available in German and English. We’d love to hear your feedback on the content as well as usability of the page!

Intel’s new Coffee Lake CPUs: Increased Thermal Load

With Coffee Lake, Intel has recently released its eighth processor generation. As part of the launch of the new generation of processors, a new chipset the Z370 has also been introduced.

While CPU coolers as offered by ARCTIC are still compatible thanks to the same mechanical socket, switching to the new Coffee Lake Processors requires a new mainboard due to its new chipset.

Motherboards with older chipsets (like Z270 / H310 / H370 / B360) are no longer compatible with Intel Coffee Lake processors despite the mechanically identical socket.

Up to 100 Watts extra load

The German magazine c’t examined four new motherboards with the chipset Z370 in a test in issue 23/2017. They discovered that in their default settings all motherboards overclock and operate the processors outside Intel’s specifications. The following mainboards were tested:

  • Asrock Z370 Extreme4
  • Asus PrimeZ370-A
  • MSI Z370-A Pro
  • Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Ultra Gaming

Intel’s restrictions regarding the turbo boost (concerning, for example, power supply and multipliers) are circumvented by all tested motherboards and result in a significant additional thermal stress.

In the case of Intel’s latest flagship model, the i7 8700K, it can lead to an increased power consumption of up to an additional 100 W. This causes a noticeably elevated temperature of the processor and requires a cooling solution that can cover this power peak.

Even if Intel officially states a TDP of 95 watts for the current top model 8700K, when using one of the mentioned motherboards under full load, a cooling solution for up to 180 W may be necessary. Alternatively, the default overclocking has to be deactivated in the BIOS.

 Powerful CPU Cooler necessary

We advise all users of Intel’s Coffee Lake and their K CPUs to pay attention to this extra thermal load via overclocking when choosing their cooler, or alternatively to disable the automated overclocking in the BIOS.

Compact but strong – ARCTIC presents Freezer 12 and Freezer 12 CO

COMPACT BUT STRONG – ARCTIC PRESENTS FREEZER 12 AND FREEZER 12 CO

Semi passive and virtually silent Tower CPU Coolers for small systems

With the Freezer 12 and Freezer 12 CO, ARCTIC now offers two compact CPU coolers, which are multi-compatible and also suitable for the AMD Ryzen AM4 socket. The successors of the Freezer 11 series convince all along the line with regards to noise level, cooling capacity, mounting versatility and transport-proofness. As semi passive coolers, the Freezer 12 and Freezer 12 CO also work extremely efficiently as the fan only starts up at a PWM signal with 40 % pulse width.

The fan runs only when it is actually needed, i.e. with increased CPU utilization. In combination with the vibration absorption rubber mounts of the fan, this leads to almost silent operation even at its maximum cooling performance of 150 watts. The 92 mm fan provides an improved air flow, three double sided direct touch heat pipes and 45 aluminum fins ensure an optimal heat dissipation and an excellent cooling power. Unlike the predecessor Freezer 11 series, the Freezer 12 and Freezer 12 CO are multi-compatible and fit Intel sockets as well as AMD AM4.

The Freezer 12 CO is specifically designed for continuous operation. With its high-precision dual ball bearing, the cooler lasts five times as long as other coolers with standard bearings.

Main Features Freezer 12 / Freezer 12 CO
• Compatible with Intel & AMD socket
• Passive Operation up to 40 % PWM
• Improved airflow for more efficient cooling performance
• Offset heat pipes ensure optimal heat dissipation
• Improved fan controller made in Germany
• Anti-vibration rubbers for quiet operation
• Installation in all four directions possible
• Transport-proof mounting with backplate
• MX-4 thermal paste included

For the sake of the environment, ARCTIC provides the manuals for the new product line online only:

EXTENSIVE COMPATIBILITY WITH AMD RYZEN
The bulk of our CPU coolers is already compatible to the
AM4-socket. An overview is available on our Website.

15 Years of Expertise

ARCTIC does not only play in the top league of the cooling specialists ever since, ARCTIC initiated the trend towards quiet cooling systems for desktop PCs and left a distinct mark. In 2001 the Swiss engineer and company founder Magnus Huber has determined to fight against loud computers – today, the still privately-owned company with locations in Germany, Hong Kong and the USA offers one of the world’s largerst ranges of CPU and GPU coolers. Maximum compatibility, first-class performance and lowest volume convince enthusiasts in over 45 countries around the globe. With the competence of an unique expert knowledge from 15 years of (pc) noise minimization ARCTIC is building out its portfolio through high-quality sound products and office equipment.
