ARCTIC Creates AiO Graphics Card Water Cooler for Inno3D’s iCHILL RTX 2080 Ti

Inno3D iCHILL RTX 2080 Ti Black – Image by Inno3D

While we at ARCTIC do not produce graphics cards, we’ve used our graphics card cooling experience to develop a cooling solution for Inno 3D’s new GeForce RTX 2080 Ti.

Nvidia’s new RTX graphics generation is very powerful; it’s also very energy hungry and therefore demands a powerful cooler.

Over 18 months of development, our engineers completely redesigned the architecture of our popular Accelero Hybrid line to develop a new AiO GPU water block for Inno 3D. A newly designed water pump directs the cooling liquid into the cooling block, which not only covers the GPU, but also VRM and RAM.

This, combined with two of our new 120mm P-fans, optimized for high static pressure, ensures comprehensive cooling of all components, even with heavy overclocking.

Hardwareluxx.de put the graphics card and our cooling solution through extensive testing in November 2018. Its testers were impressed by the low temperature and low volume, among other things. Special emphasis was placed on the fact that the graphics card runs “completely silent” in idle mode.

As a deserved reward for outstanding performance and excellent cooling, the graphics card and its cooler earned the

“Excellent Hardware” Award by Hardwareluxx.de

Newly developed heatsinks

All new Alpine CPU coolers feature newly developed heatsinks.

The passive versions achieve an optimized heat dissipation to the environment through the black anodization of the heatsink. This noticeably increases the cooling performance in a fanless system.

The actively cooled Alpine 12 and AM4 models in turn have a new radial heatsink. The high thermal conductivity of the aluminum is fully retained in a new type of extrusion.

The novel production process makes it possible to produce a powerful and at the same time very compact heatsink. The particularly fine cooling fins of the new Alpine coolers are fanned out in a Y-shape. This increases the surface area of the heatsink and also improves the cooling performance.

Affordable CPU cooler for AMD and Intel

All actively cooled Alpine 12 and Alpine AM4 models use our advanced, PWM-controlled fan technology. As a result, all Alpine coolers run very efficiently, with low power consumption and at the same time within a very wide RPM range. In addition, the new Alpine series supports a 0 dB mode – if the a PWM signal drops below 5%, the fans turn off, ensuring absolutely silent cooling of the CPU.

All new Alpine 12 and Alpine AM4 CPU coolers are delivered with pre-applied MX-2 thermal compound. This guarantees a quick and easy installation.

Introducing ARCTIC’s New P-Fans

ARCTIC is proud to announce that we’re adding a whole new segment to our fan offering with the release of the new 120- and 140 mm P-fan series.
While our F-series fans – including the BioniX F120 and the BioniX F140 – feature a high airflow, the new P-fans are optimized for a high static pressure while maintaining a high level of airflow.
The engine technology has also been significantly improved for the P-fan models with PWM. Thanks to a neodymium iron-boron magnet of the latest generation, the fans run more efficiently and with significantly less operating noise and vibrations from commutation.
The new technology also allows us to significantly expand the speed range of the new P-fans without sacrificing durability. That’s why our new P-fans with PWM come with a 10-year warranty.
As an additional benefit of the improved motor technology, our PWM-enabled P-fans have the 0 dB mode – with a PWM signal below 5%, the fans turn off, ensuring an absolutely silent system.

Which fan is the right for you: Optimized for high static pressure or high airflow?

The fans‘ different strenghts lead to different performance characteristics, which makes each fan suitable for different purposes. So—when should you choose a fan for high airflow, and when should you choose one optimized for static pressure?
The fans of the F-series are characterized by a high air flow and transport a large amount of air when there is little to none air resistance. This means they are ideal for use as case fans.
By contrast, the new P-fans guarantee consistently high cooling performance due to the increased static pressure in situations with increased air resistance, caused by, for example, a radiator, close-meshed fan grilles or heatsinks. Fans of the P-series are therefore particularly suitable for use on heat sinks.
Of course, all fans can still be installed in push or pull configuration.

More color variations in the product family

In total, six versions of the new P-series fans (P, P Silent, P PWM, P PWM PST, P PWM PST CO, BioniX P) will be available, each in 120 mm and 140 mm.
We’re also offering, for the first time, different color variations for our standard fans. The fan models P12 PWM and P12 PWM PST will be available in three different colors: Black / Black; Black / Transparent (with a black frame and semi-transparent fan blades); and White / Transparent (with white frame and semi-transparent fan blades). Our BioniX P-fans will also be available in the fan favorite colors of white and red.

Anodization of CPU Coolers

Black, slim and surprisingly powerful for a passive CPU cooler: The undoubtedly most striking feature of the new ARCTIC Alpine Passive coolers is the black heat sink. Unlike the thermal coating of the Freezer 33 eSports family, however, this is not a thermal coating, but the color is created by anodization.

But what is this and how does it work?

Anodic oxidation is a special process in which the object to be treated is placed in a conductive liquid and this liquid is connected to a voltage source. The object to be treated is one of the poles, the opposite pole is usually another, non-rusting metal such as lead, aluminum or stainless steel.

To color the Alpine Passive, the conductive liquid is accompanied by black dye, which accumulates in the oxidation process in the pores of the aluminum.

The advantage: It forms an extremely dense, micro-porous and dust-free barrier layer, which additionally functions as an electric insulator.

Up to 3 °C better cooling performance

For the end-user, this complex process brings one major advantage:

The black anodization ensures improved heat dissipation in fanless operation.

Due to the changed surface structure, micro turbulences occur during heat radiation which lead to a higher cooling capacity.

Compared to other passive coolers of the same size, but without anodization, the ARCTIC Alpine Passive is doing very well: Internal tests showed an improved cooling performance of up to 3 °C. It should be noted here that this improved cooling performance is limited to the passive mode. If a fan provides an active airflow, the improved passive heat dissipation wont have the same effect.

For quiet PC systems

The passive cooler works absolutely silently and cools processors up to 35 W TDP – with optimal air circulation in the case even up to 47 W TDP – effectively.

The ARCTIC Alpine 12 and AM4 Passive are therefore particularly suitable for computers that should be as quiet as possible, such as HTPCs.
